Bloodhype

Why does this book fall between, "Running From Deity" 2005, and "Trouble Magnet" 2006, when it was written in 1973?? Amazon lists it as book #3?? Chronological it's listed as 11?? Confusing when trying to read in order. :(
Thanks
Nick

After reading it, I don't see any connection to the series at all, If fact, they seem as support staff!

After The Tar-Aiym Krang, Betty Ballantine immediately requested a sequel. What started out as a sequel, involving a much older Flinx, turned into a novel in which Flinx was a background mover, if you will. Bear in mind this was my second original novel and the Commonwealth, as such, had yet to grow and develop.

As (much) time passed, I was left with two choices: pretend BLOODYHYPE didn't exist, or try to work it into Flinx's chronology. Since it did exist, and remained in print, I could hardly pretend it didn't exist. It was very difficult to retcon but I did the best I could. I think it works okay, but if I had to rewrite it entirely, it would just be Kitten Kai-sung and Porsupah's book, and Flinx would quietly betake himself elsewhere.

Just finished "Running From The Diety" and started "Trouble Magnet", and now wish I had kept my comment to myself! I see where "Bloodhype" fits. Should have read it in chronological order. Had I discovered this site in the 90's, I could have gotten the series in hardback. Now I am stuck with the first 6 in paperback. Am looking fwd to your next Flinx adventure. As I have not finished , (I have a couple to go), does he ever find the wandering non-moon?
PS: I should never question the mind of a science-fiction author! they have much more nimble minds!!
